The Coastal Communities Concert Band, directed by Dr. Robert Fleming performed their first concert at the Monte De Oro Winery in Temecula, Ca. last July. It was a glorious evening of summertime fun…spectacular music, beautiful views and sumptuous food. This year we’ll be playing at Monte De Oro Winery again on Sunday July 1st.
There’s nothing like a pops concert with plenty of patriotic music to make a July celebration something special. Good food and wine, great music and a gorgeous venue…a winning combination! This year there will be a Hot Air Balloon “Glow” behind the winery as well!
Audiences love our vocalists, Lillian Palmer and Michael Ruhl, who will be appearing with the band again this year. They will be singing throughout the evening, with selections that include “Time To Say Goodbye”, “I Dreamed A Dream” and a medley of best loved Broadway hits. The band will present a lively and entertaining program of toe-tappers that is sure to please, including plenty of big band music, pops and patriotic favorites.
There are general admission tickets available as well as VIP Dinner tickets. If you would like more information about the concert or wish to purchase tickets, please click HERE.

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the 4th of July that doesn’t cost any money, consider coming to Rancho Santa Fe for the traditional parade down the Main Street followed by our concert on the green! The parade usually begins at 1pm with the concert immediately afterward. Come early to stake out your place on the lawn, and bring a picnic, lawn chairs, umbrellas and sun screen! The crowd is always appreciative of the band’s spectacular musical offerings, and every year band members are entertained by the children who march, skip and dance on the grass in front of the tent. If you don’t want to bring your own food, there are hamburgers and drinks for sale by a local service organization.
At the end of our concerts we often play our National March by John Phillip Sousa, “The Stars and Stripes Forever”. Here is our flute section playing piccolos at the end of this fabulous march!
Last year we played The Boy Scout March, so one of our members dressed up in his uniform and was invited to direct the band! We have a fun group of people in this band…it’s more than just a musical organization…it’s a big crazy family!
If you miss these concerts, you’ll have another chance to hear the band at Spreckels Organ Pavilion in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park. This is a great way to wind down on a summer’s evening. The CCCBand is playing here on Tuesday July 31st at 6:15 and this concert is also FREE! Gather up the family or the neighborhood and enjoy Balboa Park for the afternoon…then stay for the hour-long concert.
The biggest summer treat of all will be “Big Band and All That Jazz”, a musical extravaganza on Sunday August 19th at 2 pm at Carlsbad Community Church, combining the Coastal Cities Jazz Band with the Coastal Communities Concert Band, and featuring saxophonist Rob Verdi. This is a wonderful concert venue with plenty of balcony seating for those who like to see the bands in action. Who doesn’t love jazz and big band music?
Many of the members of the Coastal Cities Jazz Band also play with the Coastal Communities Concert Band. You can hear the Coastal Cities Jazz Band on Sunday July 29th at the same venue in Carlsbad. Here’s their flyer:
We hope to see you and your family this summer at one or all of our concerts!
